Biography

 

 

Kashimi Asai was raised in Niigata, Japan and started training in gymnastic, piano, vocal at the age of 4 and acting at the age of 10. She started modern ballet at Teruko Uchikoshi Ballet Academy. She moved to Tokyo and graduated from Showa school of Performing Arts, majoring in Musical Theater. She performed as a freelance singer and dancer in Tokyo.

 

 She came to NY in 2006 to continue her professional training at Dance New Amsterdam. Since then has performed with Nia Love, Caitlin Grey, Rani Welch and in the works of various New York choreographers and danced in SEED DANCE Company since 2007 and then, the company has been performed New York, Japan and Taiwan.

 

 She also has danced in Tribe Of Human, Stand Up Hungry, Expression Dance Company,Human Kinetic Movement of Arts and then performed in Battery Park Dance festival, Dumbo Dance festival, Chashama Gala Opening Ceremony and a variety of other venues.

 

She is also a singer and collaborated her solo singing with talented artists. She sings Brazilian dance music called Forro with Japanese Lyrics, uniquely collaborated with Forro in the Dark, well-known Forro music band who were selected as  President Obama's Work Out Mix Playlist in 201 and perform over the world.

 

She currently sings in Jerriese Johnson Gospel Choir (JJGC), and then the choir performed in the TV shows “Good Morning America”, “Today’s show” NHK (Japan Broadcast Company) special documentary program and tour in New Orleans, Washington D.C and England,UK.

 

 And Kashimi has choreographed her own work with dancers and performed in Haiti Fundraiser performance “THE HUE-MEN”, SEED DANCE Company Taiwan tour in 2010 and a variety of venues.

 At the Taiwan tour however choreographer and dancer, she also appeared as a main singer.

Her solo improvisation dance performance in the 7th of ZEN-TEN at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in 2010.

 

 She has also choreographed for cabaret style contemporary pieces for a small venue like a bar, live house etc..“Splash” at Fontana’s, NY “kasa kasa Casa” at Tobacco Road.

 

Her solo dance works with Chinese Fan and Asian Scarf Dance are performed for Chinese New Year and Asian Heritage Month Events at Middle Collegiate Church, NYC. 

 

 She succeeded in her organizing performance event “Sparkly Night” and “HOPE- fundraising performance for Japan earthquake-”.

 

 

She is also a Pilates and Yoga Instructor.

Her fitness TV program "Healthy Tip" on Fujisankei TV (Japanese Broad Casting Company in USA and Japan)  net work can be watch in all states in USA.
